BISCUIT WEEVIL! by LillyKitten BISCUIT WEEVIL! by LillyKitten
Jane and the Dragon remains one of my favourite shows. The interplay between the characters, despite being dumbed down with the ever irritating concept that small children can't grasp anything more complex than a fart joke, is a joy to watch.

Like many "grown up" fans, I enjoy the interplay between Jane and her rival kinight apprentice, Gunther, the most for its intreguing complexity...

And the utterly amazing and every humourous insults they invented to avoid swearing on a kids show.

Jane and the Dragon is one of those little show so many people miss because it's hidden away at little kiddies time on little kiddies television channels.

It's an amazing show by Weta, before their Lord of the Rings debute, using motion capture and some gorgeous rendering along with an exceptionally talented conceptualist.

Sadly, like most shows wasted as "childrens" it only lasted one season, and despite promises of a second, it looks like it will never return, but I urge anyone who has at least a tiny love of the animated to hunt it down!

I love the show, and I love your picture, it made me smile, and I agree that there are complexities and depth that children cannot grasp, and I also wished that they made more episodes. Anyways, well done!

He promised a book, but that was many years ago now and he's involved in creating a completely (perhaps I'm a little biased because I wanted the book) asinine, patronizing toddler program called "the Wot Wots" But I live in hope

I really wish they had continued this show, it was the only thing I was able to watch when I was little. I had waited months for the next anticipated second season just to give up on it. :( I had really hoped on learning about Gunthers mother and his lady friend and the rest of the characters families with all their quirks and flaws. The pic is great, I wish I could do this well...

Each to their own ^^

Though question... I have a theory and I want to see how much truth is in it. Are you a romantic? As in, do you prefer the romance plots in stories to be sweet, slow falling in love, nice gestures, sacrifice in the name of love, true love, soul mates, that sort of thing?

It's just I've noticed a lot in and Jand and the Dragon community the Jane/Jester and the Jane/Gunther split seems to be really quite... telling. Like the Jane/Jester people all seem to be romantics (and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that either. they all seem to be the gentler, nicer people) and the Jane/Gunthers seem to be the hard reality people, the People who don't believe in Love at first sight, the fighters, the harder edged, mouthier people. The ones that hate Valentines day.

I'm just curious!

Hm, I guess you could describe me as an old, bitter man who yearns for the garden of Eden when it comes to sentimentality. However, hardened by war, years of mistreatment, and the like, he also bears an outlook that we must evolve from petty emotions and to grow up.

So, what I'm saying, is that although I enjoy romances... it's just that sometimes, I feel that it gets REALLY mushy and unreal at times. You know how couples in movies have this kiss that the audience will 'ooh' and 'aah' at? I can't bring myself to look at those two. Maybe it's because I was raised not to look at the actors, but inside, I just know that in real life it can not happen.

Nonetheless, I don't believe in fairy tales, love at first sight kind of deal, but I am not a pessimistic person who rejects all types of love... I just happen to be an introvert who does not seek companionship and scorns all those people who weep for their 'beloved departed.' AKA the Bella Swan people. Not that I have anything against her.

So, in the whole situation, I guess you could say that I like romance novels that have girly stuff in it, but I do know that it WILL NEVER HAPPEN IN REAL LIFE. The best romance novel there is the one where the two main protagonists fall in love SLOWLY, but there has to be ANOTHER PLOT going on as well that has nothing to do with romance.

Unrequited love and tragedy are the best.

Do you read fanfiction? I have two stories dealing with JatD on my FF page and maybe you can find out what I truly am if this reply does not convince you.

PS, are you a Teen Titans fan as well, I have the perfect fanfic (again, if you read fanfiction) that has the perfect romance, humor, PLOT, and humorous tragedy.

Do respond if you wish.

PSS Is there really true love?

Thank you very much for the in depth answer. I hope you didn't assume my question was a brush off or meant as rude, I was honestly curious. Most of the JatD people are young, so it's very very hard to get a decent and honest perspective out of them- though no fault of their own. Most of the time they can't answer straight because they don't know themselves yet, which is fair.

Well you blew my theory apart XD but I don't mind in the least. I'd rather be wrong and corrected then wrong and convinced I'm right

Please, I have no issue with the bagging out of Bella Swan. I worked with women who came out of abusive relationships and the amount of hate I have for that book is unrivaled, considering the things these women told me, and how very very close they are to things in that abominable book.

I would love to read your fanfics. I'm a Gunther Jane girl, but I'm also excptionally flexible, and not really inclined to defend a ship to the death. They all have merits, and ANY well written fan fiction is a welcome read.
